This protein is located in the cytoplasm and cleaves the ubiquitin moiety from ubiquitin fused precursors and ubiquitinylated proteins. The protein specifically deubiquitinates a protein in the Fanconi anemia (FA) DNA repair pathway. Alternate transcriptional splice variants have been characterized.
