LifeLines Virtual Spring Conference 2023

LifeLines Zoom Event Saturday 22nd April

We’re delighted that Richard (Dick) Burr has accepted our invitation to be guest speaker at the LifeLines Zoom event on Saturday 22nd April.

Richard Burr

Dick is a Texas-based capital defence attorney with more than four decades of experience. Currently in private practice in East Texas with the firm of Burr & Welch, his death penalty defence work began in 1979, first with Southern Prisoners Defense Committee (which later became the Southern Center for Human Rights), and then with the Public Defender’s Office in West Palm Beach, Florida, the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, the Texas Resource Center, and finally, his private practice with Mandy Welch. He served as a member of Federal Death Penalty Resource Counsel from 1997 – 2014, and a member of the Texas Habeas Assistance and Training project from 2010 – 2019. An experienced public speaker with many stories to tell, we look forward to welcoming him and hearing about his work, some of the people he has met along the way, and his thoughts on future developments regarding the US death penalty.

The event will begin at 2pm with informal optional breakout groups for members to meet one another for 30 minutes, then an official start and welcome at 2.30pm, followed by Dick’s talk and Q&A. The event will end at 4pm.
