Join us for a powerful and thought-provoking event as LifeLines hosts our October conference online and in person, bringing together members and supporters.

We’re honoured to welcome two remarkable speakers:

Ndume Olatushani is an artist, advocate, and community visionary born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. After spending 28 years incarcerated—including 20 years on death row—for a crime he did not commit, Olatushani emerged with a profound commitment to justice, healing, and creative expression. While imprisoned, he taught himself to paint, using art as a means of survival, reflection, and transformation.

Today, his work centers on using art and lived experience to inspire systemic change and community empowerment. He is the founder of GET UP!, a community art, resource, and healing center currently in development in the Walnut Park neighborhood of St. Louis.

Through his leadership and advocacy, Olatushani continues to uplift the power of resilience, challenge injustice, and build pathways for individuals and communities to thrive.

Clive Stafford Smith JD OBE is founder and director of the Justice League, a nonprofit training center focused on fostering the next generation of human rights advocates. He previously founded and directed the legal action charity Reprieve (established in 1999 in London). Since 1984, he has represented over 400 people facing execution in the United States and elsewhere.

He brought the first legal challenge to Guantánamo Bay, where he has secured the release of 87 detainees and continues to assist the remaining 15. In all five cases he has helped bring before the U.S. Supreme Court, the petitioner has prevailed.

He is a patron of Lifelines and Human Writes, charities that emphasize the humanity of people on death row.
